April 2019: Mozambique wraps up cholera vaccine campaign

On April 10, Mozambique wrapped up its cholera vaccine campaign to curb an outbreak in the wake of flooding from Cyclone Idai after reaching 800,000 people. Vaccines from the emergency stockpile arrived on April 2, and immunization activities began within 24 hours. “From start to finish, this campaign was one of the fastest ever,” said Dr. Djamila Cabral, head of WHO’s Mozambique office.
