August 2023: Mission Indradhanush program begins 5th phase

The fifth phase of a nationwide Indian program to protect against 12 vaccine-preventable diseases started August 7. India’s Mission Indradhanush program seeks to vaccinate children under age 5 and pregnant women who missed routine immunization. The fifth phase, which will prioritize measles and rubella, is divided into three subphases: one running August 7-12, a second from September 11-16, and a third October 9-14.
