December 2021: Pakistan holds integrated polio and Covid-19 immunization campaign

Pakistan ran an integrated polio and Covid-19 immunization campaign December 10-13. As part of its fourth national polio campaign, more than 290,000 frontline health workers traveled house to house to administer polio vaccination drops and Vitamin A supplements to 40 million children under age 5 in 156 districts. The country’s polio program also facilitated Covid-19 vaccination efforts in collaboration with the Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI) and the National Command Operations Center (NCOC): children ages 12-18 received the Pfizer vaccine, while adults age 18 and older received Sinovac’s shot in 31 high-risk districts identified by the NCOC.
