SUMMARY:Evaluating the Impact of IRS and ITNs: Lessons from PMI VectorLink
DESCRIPTION:With the introduction of new indoor residual spraying (IRS) and insecticide-treated net (ITN) products\, national malaria programs (NMPs) increasingly need to make data-driven\, subnational decisions. Since September 2017\, the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) VectorLink Project has focused on integrated data analytics\, visualization\, and evaluation to help inform vector control decisions and strategies in partnership with NMPs. \nThis webinar will synthesize key results from the evaluations completed under PMI VectorLink\, explore how these results were used for decision-making\, and highlight areas for future vector control evaluation. We will take a deep dive into two evaluations: the impact of clothianidin-based IRS in Côte d’Ivoire and the impact of IG2 ITNs in Mali. \nPresenters \n\nDr. Colette Yah Kokrasset\, National Malaria Control Program Coordinator\, Côte d’Ivoire\nDr. Aïssata Koné\, National Malaria Control Program Director\, Mali\nEmily Hilton\, Research Associate\, PMI Evolve\nNatalie Galles\, Impact Evaluation and Data Associate\, PMI Evolve\nDr. Sarah Burnett\, Director of Integrated Data Analytics\, PMI Evolve\nModerator\nDr. Hannah Koenker\, Senior Technical Advisor\, PMI Evolve and the RBM Partnership Vector Control Working Group’s Workstream 1 Task Team 4 Co-Lead.\n\nImportant Information: \nThe webinar will be taking place in English and French with simultaneous interpretation available. \nThe webinar will be recorded. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Achieving the WHO 2030 NTD Roadmap goals: systems and data-driven approaches to improve program strategy\, planning and implementation for the elimination of PC-NTDs
DESCRIPTION:This session seeks to focus on the shifts in approaches used to address NTDs as outlined in the WHO 2030 Roadmap. The WHO 2030 roadmap states that NTDs are designated as “neglected” partly because they are frequently overlooked by national health systems and encourages vertical interventions against NTDs\, such as MDA\, to integrate into community and national health information systems. This session will provide a real-world example of integration as experienced by the Ethiopia NTD programme as they have worked toward integration for the past four years. Key challenges\, such as system uptake and sustainability\, will be debated within the group to ensure future attempts of system strengthening\, implementation and use build on country-specific learnings. \nFurther\, this session will highlight how access to data and information through integrated systems is not only creating a positive demand loop for more timely and high-quality data\, but also enabling the visualization and use of national data to inform programmatic decisions at national and operational levels\, as countries face increasing challenges to address mapping gaps\, areas of persistent high prevalence and overall gaps in resources. \nWe will highlight opportunities for the use of data and analytics in the routine design and implementation of NTD programmes\, as well as explore how programmes outside of NTDs are already mainstreaming programmatic activities and promoting data use for programmatic decisions\, which provides a useful framework for NTDs. \nOverall\, the session will illustrate gaps\, approaches and best practices for the overall data process for NTDs – data availability and access\, analysis and visualization and data use and feedback. For data use\, new opportunities such as use of outputs and recommendations from mathematical models to inform strategic planning (e.g. how best to target MDA resources based on resource constraints) need to be introduced and streamlined into NTD programming at country level.

SUMMARY:Applying Human-Centered Design to the COVID-19 Microplanning Process: Lessons from Ga South
DESCRIPTION:Behavioral science\, the evidence-based understanding of how people behave\, make decisions\, and respond to programs\, policies\, and incentives\, offers methods and tools that can enable practitioners to develop tailored solutions for communities with lower vaccination rates. The Behavioral Science – Immunization Network project aims to support efforts to strengthen the capacity of immunization practitioners to use behavioral science approaches for immunization programming. \nIn collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and local partners\, the project supported the COVID-19 microplanning process in Ga South\, a district with low COVID-19 vaccination coverage. A human-centered design (HCD) workshop sought to strengthen health workers’ capacity to develop interventions with potential to increase COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and uptake in communities across the district. \nJoin colleagues from JSI to learn about how they integrated HCD into the microplanning process\, understand perspectives from health workers and community members on incorporating HCD into microplanning\, and hear about actions taken since the workshop. \nFeatured Speakers:\n⭐Emmanuel Nuworzah\, Senior Program Specialist\, Immunization at JSI\n⭐ Lisa Oot\, Senior Technical Officer\, Immunization at JSI

SUMMARY:Improving Effective Coverage in Health: Do Financial Incentives Work?
DESCRIPTION:GAVI and the WB have the pleasure to invite you for this webinar on January 24\, 2023 at 9 a.m. EST (3 p.m. CET).\n\nThe World Bank published a new Policy Research Report Improving Effective Coverage in Health: Do Financial Incentives Work?\, that builds on the rigorous body of evidence accumulated on performance-based financing (PBF) to examine the impacts of PBF and draw lessons for the future of health financing. The PBF programs studied in the report have largely been implemented in primary healthcare—specifically maternal and child healthcare—in low-income countries\, although the report also draws on some evidence from higher level health facilities and middle-income countries. The report’s lead authors Damien de Walque and Eeshani Kandpal will review evidence on the impacts of PBF on health service delivery spanning fifteen years and nearly forty countries with a particular emphasis on the quality of service delivery and vaccinations.\n\nPresenters:\n\nEeshani Kandpal: Senior Economist in the Development Research Group of the World Bank\nDamien de Walque: Lead Economist in the Development Research Group (Human Development Team) at the World Bank\n\nThis one hour webinar will have an initial presentation from the authors followed by a Q&A session.\n\nFur further information\, this link highlights the key findings of the report.\n\nPlease feel free to forward this invitation to any partner who might be also interested in this topic.\n\nThank you very much in advance for your interest and attendance.\n\nThe Gavi team \nRegister in advance for this webinar:\nhttps://gavi-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_E6iNcvD3SNirm8XGShOrQA

SUMMARY:Mainstreaming of NTD programs: Exploring the transition of schistosomiasis/STH MDA in Nigeria and the non-participation/zero dose in disease campaigns in Indonesia and Ghana
DESCRIPTION:Watch event: https://youtu.be/hNxI8Je26Pw \nThe Health Campaign Effectiveness Coalition (HCEC) and the Coalition for Operational Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases (COR-NTD) Research Links series are excited to announce a live webinar to be held on November 16 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. EST. \nThe World Health Organization (WHO) NTD Roadmap 2021-2030 calls for holistic\, cross-cutting approaches including integration across NTDs\, mainstreaming in national health systems\, coordinating with adjacent sectors and strengthening country capacity and global support. The HCEC is inviting colleagues at partner institutions to share recent insights on NTD program mainstreaming with health systems and on the barriers people face in taking part in multiple health campaigns. \nOur first panel features Drs. Abel Eigege and Emmanuel Emukah\, Directors at the Carter Center – Nigeria and Dr. Jenna Coalson\, Epidemiologist. Working with state and local governments in Plateau\, Nasarawa\, Edo\, and Delta States of Nigeria\, the Carter Center investigated the effectiveness and feasibility of transitioning to government ownership the schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminth control programs. \nOur second panel features Dr. Alison Krentel of the University of Ottawa and the Bruyère Research Institute (Canada)\, Dr. Christiana Rialine Titaley of Universitas Pattimura (Indonesia) and Dr. Maxwell Dalaba of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (Ghana). Through participatory qualitative methods\, these teams and partners uncovered some key drivers of non-participation\, or ‘never-treated’ phenomenon\, in multiple health campaigns\, such as NTDs\, immunization\, malaria\, and COVID-19 measures. The teams will recommend ways campaigns and health systems can address these factors and meet the needs of community members. \nThe Research Links session led by Dr Eva Bazant of the Health Campaign Effectiveness Coalition to hear lessons learned. Join us! \nCOR-NTD is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation\, the United States Agency for International Development and UK aid by the UK government
