The findings give fresh insight into which countries coordinated\, collaborated\, or shared most or all campaign components with or without co-delivery. \nCouasnon and her team are analyzing characteristics of campaign integration to develop of a set of campaign integration profiles. DESCRIPTION:Watch event: https://youtu.be/hNxI8Je26Pw \nThe Health Campaign Effectiveness Coalition (HCEC) and the Coalition for Operational Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases (COR-NTD) Research Links series are excited to announce a live webinar to be held on November 16 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. EST. \nThe World Health Organization (WHO) NTD Roadmap 2021-2030 calls for holistic\, cross-cutting approaches including integration across NTDs\, mainstreaming in national health systems\, coordinating with adjacent sectors and strengthening country capacity and global support. The HCEC is inviting colleagues at partner institutions to share recent insights on NTD program mainstreaming with health systems and on the barriers people face in taking part in multiple health campaigns. \nOur first panel features Drs. Abel Eigege and Emmanuel Emukah\, Directors at the Carter Center – Nigeria and Dr. Jenna Coalson\, Epidemiologist. Working with state and local governments in Plateau\, Nasarawa\, Edo\, and Delta States of Nigeria\, the Carter Center investigated the effectiveness and feasibility of transitioning to government ownership the schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminth control programs. \nOur second panel features Dr. Alison Krentel of the University of Ottawa and the Bruyère Research Institute (Canada)\, Dr. Christiana Rialine Titaley of Universitas Pattimura (Indonesia) and Dr. Maxwell Dalaba of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (Ghana). Through participatory qualitative methods\, these teams and partners uncovered some key drivers of non-participation\, or ‘never-treated’ phenomenon\, in multiple health campaigns\, such as NTDs\, immunization\, malaria\, and COVID-19 measures. The PBF programs studied in the report have largely been implemented in primary healthcare—specifically maternal and child healthcare—in low-income countries\, although the report also draws on some evidence from higher level health facilities and middle-income countries. The Behavioral Science – Immunization Network project aims to support efforts to strengthen the capacity of immunization practitioners to use behavioral science approaches for immunization programming. \nIn collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and local partners\, the project supported the COVID-19 microplanning process in Ga South\, a district with low COVID-19 vaccination coverage. SUMMARY:Achieving the WHO 2030 NTD Roadmap goals: systems and data-driven approaches to improve program strategy\, planning and implementation for the elimination of PC-NTDs
DESCRIPTION:This session seeks to focus on the shifts in approaches used to address NTDs as outlined in the WHO 2030 Roadmap. The WHO 2030 roadmap states that NTDs are designated as “neglected” partly because they are frequently overlooked by national health systems and encourages vertical interventions against NTDs\, such as MDA\, to integrate into community and national health information systems. This session will provide a real-world example of integration as experienced by the Ethiopia NTD programme as they have worked toward integration for the past four years. Key challenges\, such as system uptake and sustainability\, will be debated within the group to ensure future attempts of system strengthening\, implementation and use build on country-specific learnings. \nFurther\, this session will highlight how access to data and information through integrated systems is not only creating a positive demand loop for more timely and high-quality data\, but also enabling the visualization and use of national data to inform programmatic decisions at national and operational levels\, as countries face increasing challenges to address mapping gaps\, areas of persistent high prevalence and overall gaps in resources. \nWe will highlight opportunities for the use of data and analytics in the routine design and implementation of NTD programmes\, as well as explore how programmes outside of NTDs are already mainstreaming programmatic activities and promoting data use for programmatic decisions\, which provides a useful framework for NTDs. \nOverall\, the session will illustrate gaps\, approaches and best practices for the overall data process for NTDs – data availability and access\, analysis and visualization and data use and feedback. For data use\, new opportunities such as use of outputs and recommendations from mathematical models to inform strategic planning (e.g. how best to target MDA resources based on resource constraints) need to be introduced and streamlined into NTD programming at country level.
