Zimbabwe launches typhoid vaccine campaign: Gavi announced last week the launch of a typhoid vaccine campaign to vaccinate 325,000 people in nine suburbs of Zimbabwe’s capital Harare. According to the press release, this is the first campaign in Africa to use the new typhoid conjugate vaccine that can be administered to young children and has long-lasting immunity.
The Gavi-funded campaign will be carried out by the ministry of health and will run from February 22 until March 4 to target children aged six months to 15 years old in eight Harare suburbs: Budiriro, Dzivarasekwa, Glen Norah, Glenview, Hatcliffe, Hopley, Mufakose and Kuwadzana. Gavi press release
