Uganda ran a nationwide preventive yellow fever vaccination campaign June 9-13, targeting 13.3 million people ages 9 months to 60 years. This was the first phase of a wider three-phase effort and specifically focused on 51 districts, including Arua, Gulu, Hoima, Kabale, Kabarole and Lira. The second and third phases will take place in October 2023 and October 2024. In Kasese (a high-risk district), the campaign targeted 95% of the general eligible population ages 9 months to 60 years and additionally covered Congolese nationals. Currently classified as high risk for yellow fever, Uganda plans to eliminate the disease by 2026. WHO AFRO (1); WHO AFRO (2); The Sun Daily; New Vision
