May 2021: Brazil runs multi-stage influenza campaign

Brazil’s three-stage influenza vaccination campaign, launched April 12, has reached 15.2% of the targeted population nationwide (with only 23.9% of the campaign’s 50,846,860 doses used). The first stage, now complete, vaccinated less than half the targeted groups: 41.3% of children age 6 months to 6 years, 37.1% of pregnant women, 27.2% of health workers and 24.3% of indigenous people. The second stage (May 11-June 8) targets older people and teachers, while the third stage (June 9-July 9) aims to vaccinate people with comorbidities, people with permanent disabilities, truck drivers, transport workers, port workers, security and armed forces members, prison system employees and the prison population. Jornal de Brasília
