Pakistan launched, then suspended, a polio campaign after health workers were attacked this month. The vaccination campaign was launched April 22 to administer oral drops to 39 million children under age 5. The government suspended the anti-polio campaign “for an indefinite period” on April 26 because of attacks by Islamist militants against health workers. The government also took the unpreceded step of suspending the post-campaign Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS). NYT; DAWN
