India’s Uttar Pradesh state launched a mass drug administration event against lymphatic filariasis to reach 65 million people from November 23 to December 10. The state will distribute a triple-drug therapy (ivermectin, DEC and albendazole) in 11 districts and the two-drug regimen of DEC and albendazole in eight districts. The event supports health minister Harsh Vardhan’s recent call to action to eliminate lymphatic filariasis in the country by 2021. Xinhua
