September 2019: Taliban lifts ban on WHO activities in Afghanistan

Afghanistan’s Taliban has lifted a ban on WHO’s activities in areas the militants control, guaranteeing safety for WHO staff. Conditions for lifting the ban include only doing health work, getting permission before hiring workers and only carrying out polio vaccine campaigns in health centers. The insurgency banned WHO in April—citing “suspicious activities” during vaccination campaigns. Reuters
