In early 2024, the HCE Coalition Leadership and Program Office teams hosted a 3-day meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with senior national health representatives from the governments of Ethiopia and Nigeria to launch the Collaborative Action Strategy for Health Campaign Effectiveness (CAS). Immediately following the convening, the Ethiopian and Nigerian ministries of health opted-in to join the HCE Coalition, and become the first focus countries to adapt and implement the CAS to their national and regional contexts.
Over the next several years, Ethiopia and Nigeria will lead all key campaign stakeholders in their respective country – including funders, implementers and other relevant partners – to customize, implement and monitor the performance of the CAS. The overall aim in both countries is to vastly improve health outcomes by reducing inefficiencies, decreasing fragmentation, harmonizing funding, fostering deeper integration, and promoting greater collaboration between the full spectrum of stakeholders and campaigns across health domains.
As CAS implementation progresses on the ground, the HCE Coalition will disseminate key learnings and findings to the broader health campaign ecosystem that can be leveraged by ministries of health to improve health effectiveness and equity in additional countries and regions around the world.
Customization and implementation planning is underway in both Ethiopia and Nigeria, with roll-out set to begin in Q4 of 2024.
