Richard Reithinger, MSc, PhD

Dr. Richard Reithinger is the Vice President of Global Health for RTI International. 

Reithinger is an infectious disease epidemiologist with 20 years’ working experience in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Over the course of his career, Dr. Reithinger has worked in academia, for non-governmental for-profit and not-for-profit sector, as well as bilateral and multilateral agencies. His interests are in the prevention, control, surveillance and elimination of infectious diseases, with a particular emphasis on malaria and NTDs, and how research results, tools and approaches can be scaled-up programmatically to maximize impact on the burden of these diseases. 

He is a Member of the Technical Review Panel of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; Chair of the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene Global Health Annual Meeting Program Sub-Committee; and an Editorial Board Member of PLoS NTDs, Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, and BMC Infectious Diseases.
