An insight on how to adjust what is being done based on experience or learning (describing what was learned and by whom (at what levels).
Drawing on Alice Macfarlan’s “lessons learnt” definition, the Health Campaign Effectiveness Coaltion (HCE) defines a lesson learned as “an insight on how to adjust what is being done based on experience or learning (describing what was learned and by whom (at what levels)).” Macfarlan is a BetterEvaluation Knowledge Platform Manager. BetterEvaluation is an international group striving to improve the practice and theory of evaluation. The group compiles and creates information about choosing and using different evaluation methods or tools. It also provides guidance on how to implement these different methods and tools.
