After suspending the drive because of Islamist militant attacks against health workers in April, Pakistan resumed its polio campaign in Lahore in June 2019, with polio teams going door-to-door to vaccinate 300,000 children under the age of five. The campaign took place in 94 of the 274 union councils in Lahore and ran from 14-19 May; around 2,500 security personnel were deployed with the polio workers. Pakistan will also vaccinate over 300,000 additional children in Lower Dir district in June, part of a broader drive intended to vaccinate 40 million children. The drives are part of a revamped strategy involving fewer questions, follow-up visits and recorded details about vaccinated individuals and their families. Business Recorder; DAWN; NYT
